Who Would Do this for a living?

I am Julie Crist, licensed and nationally board certified acupuncturist.  I graduated from Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle in 1996 with a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine.  I graduated from The Evergreen State College with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, and I write occasional articles for Acupuncture Today, the nation’s largest acupuncture journal.  I have been an acupuncturist for over 20 years, 10 of them here in Colville.

Since graduating, I have spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars continuing my education, focusing primarily on Japanese style acupuncture.  This style uses thinner and fewer needles, and different diagnostics than standard Chinese style acupuncture.  We also rely more on moxibustion and various other unique techniques more than herbs, although I do occasionally also prescribe herbs.

I spent 12 year as a Port Security officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed at various ports on the West Coast following basic training at Cape May, New Jersey.  Under my skin beats the heart of a Labrador retriever (or maybe a duck or a goose, depending on who you’re asking), and I jump at any chance to get on or in the water.
